El movimiento a esa escala diminuta es el objeto de estudio de la "Nanomecánica", una rama del conocimiento que da nombre al libro escrito por Daniel Ramos y que hoy comentamos en este programa. El libro, editado por la editorial CSIC, nos invita a conocer qué herramientas y dispositivos ha desarrollado la ciencia para estudiar el movimiento a escala nanométrica, instrumentos como el microscopio de efecto túnel o de fuerzas atómicas, sensores, balanzas atómicas y todo un conjunto de tecnologías con las que se puede pesar un átomo o medir las interacciones entre las moléculas. Tecnologías que tienen aplicaciones en multitud de campos, desde la biomedicina o la fabricación de componentes para teléfonos móviles hasta los detectores de ondas gravitacionales.
