Navigating Suicide

from Speak Plainly Podcast · host Owl C Medicine

Send us Fan Mail This episode sheds light on my own struggles and the devastating loss of my brother who lost his battle with it after serving as a marine as well as my own suicidal attempts when young.By distinguishing between the desire to escape pain and the wish to end one's life, we explore the subtle shifts in these emotions and the role of self-awareness in recognizing and addressing them.We draw an important distinction between the desire to not be alive anymore and the desire to die. Although the distinction is small its an important one. The truth no one wants to tell you about being suicidal is that its a race... There is a at piece of you that wants to die. It needs to die. And the race is to find it and kill it before it kills you. Each person that has ever been suicidal was so because their current life is butting up against some belief that when combined is extremely painful and inescapable.
