Navigation Life Storms with Fear or Trust
from Sunday Homilies with the Redemptorists · host Novena Church
This gospel passage is like a parable of our own lives. All of us are wandering in a fragile bark over life’s tempestuous sea. One moment all is calm, in the next instance we can be swarmed by winds and waves. In such frightening times, aren’t we like the disciples in the boat? We all encounter storms in our lives where we do not have control- they can be outside, like cyclones and typhoons or within us: ill health, death of loved ones or stress at work. Do we react with unhealthy fear, depending on our own strength? Or do we respond with holy fear that makes us turn towards God? As we sail through this life in a fragile bark over a tempestuous sea, let us remember that Jesus is always here with us, even though sometimes he may be silent or even asleep. Let us always turn to the Lord, sometimes wake him up and he will do the rest. -Sunday Homily by Fr. Clement Lee, C.Ss.R. (23 June 2024)
