There are two types of period cramps: the primary type is labeled idiopathic, and secondary cramps that are caused by fibroids, ovarian cysts, or endometriosis. Many women take NSAIDs, birth control pills, and Depo shots for period pain relief. The medical community generally discourages the use of natural remedies for menstrual cramps, but does not discourage the use of medication. This led to the conclusion that the root cause of menstrual cramps is a severe vitamin D3 deficiency!
