Caller Questions & Discussion: Dr. Jill shares how her husband was recently ill and how she had to do a lot of work she normally wouldn’t have to do. Each morning, she chooses gratitude. I live in Canada, and I have an 11-year-old son. I lightly slapped my son and once pushed him out of the way, and my ex called 911. Now I’m under supervised visits. How do I keep from becoming bitter? My children want their dad, my ex-husband with Alzheimer’s and anger issues, to live with me so I can be his caregiver. But I have serious health issues and anxiety too. I don’t feel capable of it and don’t want to, but I’m a people pleaser. How do I discuss healthy boundaries with my girlfriend in a kind and balanced way? She’s from Brazil, and we’re both Christians. I tried to set a boundary on French kissing, but she thinks it’s no big deal. We were referred to a New Life counselor, but my husband gave up on couples therapy. How do I encourage him to go back without sounding like a nag? We’re both very direct.
