New Medical Unit Opens at Bordelais Correctional Facility

A new Level One Medical Unit has officially opened at the Bordelais Correctional Facility, significantly expanding access to health care for inmates while helping to reduce the need for routine medical transfers to public hospitals. The upgraded facility offers chronic disease management, mental health care, dental services, specialist clinics and health education. The unit features a nursing station, treatment room, asthma bay, dental unit, consultation rooms, sterilization room, isolation and observation cells. The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition invested approximately $103,000 in medical and dental equipment to support the upgraded services.
