NEWBURY NEWS LOGAN TEMPLE MIRACLE

The Logan Temple was dedicated on May 17, 1884 and was the second temple in this dispensation to be dedicated as a House of the Lord. There were many mighty miracles attending each dedication but there is one miracle that spanned continents. Henry Ballard, a bishop at the time was preparing for another dedicatory session, when his daughter Ellen brought him a Newspaper that contained genealogical information about friends and family who were ready to have their temple work done. "Messengers" had brought to Henry, through Ellen, this paper that was dated May 15, 1884 from Thatcham, England, Henry's home town. There is no physical way that this could have happened, but when the Lord is in relentless pursuit of saving the "one", miracles are the expectation. This story has inspired generations of descendants, some of who were M. Russell Ballard and Kay Groll. Both were inspired by this story. M. Russell Ballard verified this miracle by going to the Newbury News headquarters and found out that God had performed a most extraordinary miracle and Kay Groll was prompted to paint a depiction of this miraculous event that currently is displayed in the Logan Temple.
