We are living in a world where there is a constant stream of negativity and chaos. Anxiety is the new normal for most. Solomon's temple was truly a sight to behold. For the children of Israel who lived during that time it became a permanent house of worship that reminded them that the divine presence was ever near. Jared White understands the plight of those who are in prison on the other side of the veil. He himself, has experienced what must be similar feelings to those ancestors who want to be freed from their own personal darkness. During his years in prison, he learned  that God was always near and that the Savior was walking him through the lessons that needed to be learned. Through the grace of the Savior and many ministering angels on this side of the veil, he was able to finally experience the joys of freedom. Through it all, his kids supported him during those very soul stretching periods. Brian Hall has always felt a pull to help his ancestors and has involved his children in the process as well.  Brian and his wife began with teaching them how to index and other family history related activities. When Brian realized that he could pray to know who needs help on the other side of the veil, he decided to give it a try. After having his own thinning of the veil experience on behalf of an ancestor on the the other side of the veil, he knew he needed to teach his children to do the same. His two sons, Seth and Dallas had faith in what their father had experienced and they both wanted to receive revelation on behalf of an ancestor as their father had. Both boys had a revelatory experience and are now busily engaged in the work of the Gathering. Seth's temple worship has become more meaningful and Dallas, who's only eight, gives the names to his brother and Dad to do the work of their waiting ancestor. Temples are places where heaven meets earth. There we learn the higher ways of God and the Savior's role in our Father's eternal plan of happiness. Symbols are a way through which Heavenly Father can teach His mortal children about heavenly things. The symbols contained within the walls of the temple and the ones evident on the outside of each holy house can be instructive hints about our mission here on Earth. In this article, "Latter-Day Temples as Symbols", Richard Cowen, studies the different symbols contained on and in many temples, and points us to possibilities of what those sacred symbols can represent. Two different experiences, two different sides of the world, and yet, both were born to rescue those on the other side of the veil. Dennis Umukoro is a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, from Delta Nigeria, and has had many revelatory experiences that have led him to saving many of his own ancestors. Debra Bowen a member of the Church in the United States, also had promptings,  in different ways then Dennis, but no less effective in saving her family on the other side of the veil. The Mexico City temple dedication was special as it was the first one dedicated in Mexico. President Spencer W. Kimball testified about a house of the Lord coming to the people of Mexico long before it was ever planned or built. In a dedicatory session, Gordon B. Hinckley, commented that there were many from other side of the veil present and that one of them was "Father Lehi". This among many other miraculous experiences, marked the dedication of the Mexico City temple as one that would never be forgotten. There have been many prophecies, in all books of scriptures, that say in the last days that Zion would be gathered. The tribe of Joseph, which includes both of his sons, Ephraim and Manasseh are to play a pivotal roll in the preparations leading up to the establishment of Zion. Each of these tribes have their individual responsibilities and strengths. However, when working with each other for the salvation of the rest of the "family", the House of Israel, miracles of untold proportions have, do, and will occur. Matthew Cowley was an apostle of the Lord and champion of Native peoples the world over. He lived and served within many native communities. In this conference talk, given in Oct. 1947, he references the building of bridges. His life of service was devoted to building connections between all the sons and daughters of God, and this he did very well. However, he encourages in this talk to look even beyond this mortal existence to build bridges with our ancestors on the other side of the veil. He testifies that this takes place in the  Holy Houses of the Lord that are now dotting the earth. We are not only to become one with our brothers and sisters here, but we are to also connect our ancestors by building eternal bridges with them, becoming one with them. FamilySearch and My Heritage have integrated in some aspects to make the finding of records and adding sources quick and painless between the to platforms. My Heritage also has a new tool called Scribe Ai. Now instead of one linear way of reading the information on a single record, Scribe Ai will now give a fuller picture of the record including information of the towns listed, practices of how the records were taken at the time, etc... More information means more success. The advancement of technology is surely part of the promise being fulfilled that the Lord's work would move forward at an unprecedented pace. Before the early 1880's the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was not known among the Maori tribes of New Zealand. As God does in any age however, He prepares the way before the messengers of the Lord. Matakite are visionaries or seers within each Maori tribe. The Lord sent prophecies to some of these religious men and women to prepare the Maori people to receive the gospel when it began to be preached among them. One of this matakites was Paora Te Potangaroa. He was well loved and respected amongst his tribe. In answer to their questioning about which church to join and which was the only true church for them, Paora retired and sought council from the heavens. He received a remarkable prophecy that would prove to be fulfilled in every detail. In the sacred hymn, "The Spirit of God", we are taught that the veil over the earth is beginning to burst. In all nations and cultures we are seeing God's hand moving upon the Earth, giving spiritual gifts and revelatory experiences to many. To the Maori people, the gifts of dreams and visions are the norm and not the exception. Jon Smith, a native of New Zealand, testifies that these gifts have been passed down through his ancestry and native culture. As he participates in the Gathering of Israel, especially Temple work, he regularly experiences sacred interactions with those who are on the other side of the veil. Also within his culture there are sacred teachings that echo our own temple worship. He shares a very small example of this as he relates a sacred chant, handed down through the generations, that points to Moses and Elijah.  Sometimes life is overwhelming and exhausting. Trials that must be endured in our process of "becoming" more like our Heavenly Parents, can be daunting and debilitating. How do we find joy when it sometimes feels like the darkness is never ending? Janet Hewlett discusses her experience of raising a son that had debilitating mental health challenges. It was a never ending "night" for her for a very, long time. However, through angelic ministrations and temple work, she began to realize her mission and purpose, as she learned through revelatory experiences that her son, who is on the other side of the veil, is happily engaged in the work of the Gathering of Israel. Sometimes the struggles with toxic perfectionism stems from not understanding the grace given by Jesus Christ. There is a plague that's ravaging in this latter day generation. Mental health struggles including depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges are prevalent in all cultures and people around the world. Unfortunately, this can often lead to the false feelings that the world would be a better place without us in it. The scourge of suicide has touched to many in our society today. In this discussion with Sister Reyna Aburto, we discuss how we as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints should approach this very sensitive topic. Within her own very difficult experiences, including the loss of her father from suicide, Sister Aburto testifies of the peace that can eventually come from really understanding the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Through many revelatory experiences, including dreams and other thinning of the veil experiences, she has found comfort in knowing there is a plan for all and that our loved ones are involved in the Gathering on the other side of the veil. There is healing that can occur as we struggle to feel God's love even in the midst of battling with these very real and tangible trials. Can children receive answers to those Intercessory prayers on behalf of those on the other side of the veil? As a mother, Whitney Rigby has sought diligently to help her children believe that they can receive answers to prayers, and to teach them the patterns of how the Spirit speaks. Her son Oliver, who's 12,  took note of his mother's testimony and had a special experience with the Spirit. He had a strong impression that someone needed their work done on the other side of the veil, and shortly after received the name of that ancestor. Oliver's parents diligence in teaching their children to be mindful of impressions was evident in his ability to receive revelation on behalf of this ancestor and many more since. Whitney herself has received angelic ministrations to help guide her and sustain her during very difficult times in her life, noting that the veil has been very thin for her from time to time. Stacie Dye,  had a revelatory experience in the temple where she felt like the ancestor that she was doing the work for, possibly had a sister. Not sure how to move forward, Colette decided to walk her though it on a live episode. It has been prophesied that in the latter days that, “Much of the major growth that is coming to the Church in the last days will come because many ofthe good women of the world (in whom there is often such an inner sense of spirituality) will be drawn to the Church in large numbers. This will happen to the degree that the women of the Church reflect righteousness and articulateness in their lives, and to the degree that [they] are seen asdistinct and different, in happy ways, from the women of the world.”(Spencer W. We have been given many great and precious promises as we fulfill the measure of our creation. As we strive to understand our individual missions the Lord will bless us with the strength, power, and revelations that we seek to bring about much good and thwart the powers of Satan. Does the ministering of angels really happen in our darkest moments?  War broke out in the pre existence between those who chose to follow Jesus Christ and those who chose to follow Satan. That war has been carried into mortality. Satan will diametrically oppose anything or anyone that is good. It is part of the plan of salvation that we may know good from evil. Because we have been marked by Satan as followers of Jesus Christ, he will stop at nothing to distract, attack, and stop our work in the Gathering of Israel. Thinning of the Veil experiences will come from both sides as their is always opposition in all things. However there is no need to fear, Satan is bound by laws that he has to obey. If we use our agency in defense of God's kingdom, we will be sent legions of ministering angels to defend us against Satan's oppressive reach and conquer he who seeks to destroy all. In this BYU Hawaii Devotional, Sister Kwon, relates her family's miraculous conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through a series of dreams to the matriarchs of her family, one by one each was brough to the waters of baptism. As mentioned in several patriarchal blessings, many of their ancestors work began to be done in the temple. Through miracles big and small, her family chain began to be sealed. The greatest lesson that she learned through all of these great manifestations? She uses the example of Kerstin Ngatuakana who was from New Zealand, but has ancestors from Sweden. Her family tree on her Swedish side, stopped in the early 1800's and she was stuck. In the 1970's Alex Haley wrote and book and a subsequent movie was filmed called Roots. It is the saga of African American life based off the genealogy of Alex Haley. During the process of doing research for the book and show, their were several experiences where the veil was thin. His ancestors were clearly helping him to move the work forward. A friend of Alex Hayley was Elder J. Richard Clarke, who was at the time overseeing the work in the Church's Family History department. Elder Clarke spoke at a BYUI devotional in February of 1993, and recounted the spiritual manifestations that Alex Haley related to him. In early 1863 a terrible injustice occurred to the people of the Shoshone tribes. Soldiers murdered many native men, women, and children. In the aftermath of this horrible tragedy, healing in some tribe members became a reality through the dreams and visions of their Chief, Sagwitch. Cultures down through the ages have exhibited very similar religious practices to our current modern temple worship. Matthew B. Brown at a FAIR conference in 2011 brings to light many evidences that ancient Israelite temple worship and early Christian temple worship were very, very similar to our own. He presents yet more evidences that temple language, symbols, and practices have been lost in our historical view of the Lord's work. In 1921, a group of Elder's were ministering on the island of Maui. Elder David O. McKay, Hugh J. Cannon, E. Wesley Smith, David Keola Kailimai and Samuel Harris Hurst Jr., met to recount past miracles that attended the missionary work preceding them in the islands. George Q. Cannon and Joseph Fielding Smith had laid the ground work through many miracles and manifestations. During a special prayer of gratitude some of the men experienced a parting of the veil in in varying degrees.  Hugh J. After having offered a sacrifice that echoes our own temple worship today, Adam and Eve, "made all things known unto their sons and daughters". Therefore we should see evidences of temple worship in some form, in many cultures and ancient worship ceremonies around the world. In this episode we examine the ancient prayer circles and civilizations in the United Kingdom that worshiped their own Deity in very similar fashions that we worship in the temple. Even outward symbols on our temples represent the same symbols that these ancient peoples found important to surround themselves with.  What exactly does it mean to be endowed with power? Certainly there are a lot of ways to answer that question. In this article written by Peter B. Rawlins for the BYU Journal in 2012, he approaches it through a missionary lens. He details what each ordinance means in our gaining of priesthood power and the work of the Gathering of Israel on both sides of the veil. It is valuable to study a lot of different perspectives when trying to understand the nature of  power, that is gained in the temple. There are many of us whose families are devastated by generational trauma, current struggles in family relationships, or current societal degradation. This is not a news flash to our Savior and Heavenly Father. They knew the world, society, and families at large would be in state of swift deterioration in the last days. Knowing this, they provided a way and place for healing to happen. In temples we find the healing waters that lead us to Jesus Christ. Only through binding ourselves to Him will the generations past, present, and future find healing. This episode is filled with miracles and revelatory experiences that prove that it is possible to heal that which has been broken. Although Kim Olsen's ancestors included the Boggs of Missouri, her first marriage ending in divorce, and her family being rocked by suicide, she found the transforming power that can only come when we turn our hearts to the Savior in the temple. Healing is possible and can transform the generations. Miracles will be abundant, hearts will be healed, and the rending of the veil will be given to those who seek to mend the unmendable through temple ordinances and covenants.  When we attend the temple we are surrounded with symbols that can teach us about Jesus Christ. If we have eyes to see, the nature of our Heavenly Father and the Savior can be revealed to us in many ways. Oftentimes however, the learning of heavenly symbols can be overwhelming and non relatable for various reasons. In this episode Todd McKenna discusses ways that we can begin to understand the patterns and symbols all around us. Elijah is a well known and loved prophet. The sealing power was restored to the Earth through him in Kirtland Ohio, on April 3, 1836. The returning of Elijah and the restoring of priesthood power was a fulfilling of prophecy and was given in preparation for the glorious work that would transpire in the latter days. Because the work of the Father and the Son is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal lives of mankind,  we have temples dotting the earth and the sealing of fathers to children is happening at an accelerated pace. All of the major genealogical platforms have many different tools to help anyone regardless of skill or ability. However, most of the tools never get used. Whether it is because people aren't aware, or are intimidated about learning something new, or feel like they don't have time, many opportunities to find ancestors are wasted. Many accounts are noted of the manifestations that happened at the Kirtland Temple solemn assembly and dedication. However, there were many revelatory experiences that happened before the actual dedication of the temple. In January of 1836, many elders of the church experienced heavenly manifestations, angelic ministrations, visionary experiences and much, much more. As they prepared for the upcoming solemn assembly by organizing, sanctifying, and learning of God's commandments, they were truly blessed with many thinning of the veil experiences. The revealed pattern for ancient solemn assemblies included an blessing and outpouring of spiritual gifts and power. If we know the pattern, we can understand what our experiences can be as we choose to participate in solemn assemblies in a higher and holier way. Holy Week is celebrated among many different cultures and religions. However, if we look for temple patterns within Latter Day Saint theology and study the Savior's last week of His life, we find ourselves in the Holy Week's, Holy of Holies. Every pattern, every part of His redemptive work points us then and now to the crowning work done in temples around the world in these latter days. We know John Groberg from the "Other Side of Heaven" fame. But, most do not know that he was the Temple President for the Idaho Falls Temple. In that sacred calling, there cannot help but be additional insights into temple service and worship. In this talk, Brother Groberg testifies of the important role that temples should play in our lives and the reality that we can be blessed in so many ways as we serve our ancestors. He teaches that revelation can be received in these holy houses of the Lord. He says, "Temples are among the portals he uses to convey His eternal truths to earth." Preliminary and in preparation to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, the gathering must occur in great numbers on both sides of the veil. In this mighty work we are not alone. Angels are sent to bear us up, protect us, and support us in our latter day gathering efforts. Almost always, those angels sent are our loved ones beyond the veil. Colette takes us on her own personal journey in this episode of the Gathering Academy. This experience began with a sacred dream, in where she saw her grandfather, and knew he needed help. After her revelatory experience she went to work, trying to locate the reason for the dream. Colette walks you through how she found lost ancestors that she didn't even know about. Using  FamilySearch, obituaries, Ancestry and other tools, she was able to find the people she believes was the reason for her Grandpa's visit. The last step in this journey is asking permission from living loved ones to see if she can get the ordinances done for her long lost relatives. Kerstin Ngatuakana, is a native of New Zealand. A common spiritual gift that seems evident in Pacific Islanders, is dreams and visions, among many other gifts. It is culturally important to be aware of ancestors and the importance of who they have descended from.
