(00:39) Kersverse junta in Niger trekt zich niets aan van dreigementen ECOWAS Nadat het leger eind juli de macht greep in Niger, klonk direct felle taal van het regionale samenwerkingsverband ECOWAS en buurland Nigeria. Maar de snoeiharde sancties, het harde ultimatum en de openlijke dreiging van militair ingrijpen laten de kersverse militaire machthebbers van Niger voorlopig nog koud. Sterker nog: gisteren kondigden ze aan de afgezette democratische president te gaan vervolgen. Wat gaat ECOWAS doen? Te gast is correspondent Joost Bastmeijer. (10:15) Brussel ligt dwars bij Britse migratieplannen Ondanks deals met Albanië, Frankrijk en meest recent Turkije, lukt het de Britse premier Sunak maar niet om het aantal migranten dat via zee aankomt, terug te dringen. Nu blijkt dat een deal met de EU om migranten terug te kunnen sturen, door de kabinetschef van Ursula von der Leyen geblokkeerd is.
