Compositor, pianista, director y académico italiano, mejor conocido por sus bandas sonoras de películas: para las películas de Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti en mayor medida, para dos de Franco Zeffirelli y para las dos primeras películas de Francis Ford Coppola de El padrino, ganando el Oscar a la mejor banda sonora original en 1974. Nos referimos a Nino Rota, quien falleció un 10 de abril hace 43 años. Durante su dilatada carrera, Rota fue un compositor extraordinariamente prolífico, especialmente de música para cine. Escribió más de 150 partituras para producciones italianas e internacionales y también compuso diez óperas, cinco ballets y docenas de otras obras orquestales, corales y de cámara siendo el más conocido su concierto de cuerda. A continuación escucharemos, de su Concierto para cuerdas el IV movimiento Finale. Allegrissimo de manos de la Orquesta Filarmónica Dell Scala dirigida por Ricardo Muti.
