NJ Fire GuysRun #: 24-018Date: June 6, 2024Guest: Fire Chief Edward A. Mullen  Fire Chief Edward Mullen is a fourth-generation firefighter. He began his fire service in Iselin Fire District 9 of Woodbridge Township in 2001. He quickly rose through the ranks to serve as Chief of Department in 2014.  Chief Mullen began serving the City of Perth Amboy as a volunteer firefighter in 2002 and fulltime EMT in 2002. He was appointed to the Perth Amboy Fire Departments Uniformed Division in 2004. In 2010 Mullen was promoted to Lieutenant, followed by Captain in 2011. In October of 2013 Chief Mullen was promoted to Battalion Chief and assigned as Administration Chief, responsible for the department’s day to day operations. In 2017 Ed was named Acting Chief of Department until his promotion was made permanent in February of 2019.  In his time as Chief, Perth Amboy Fire Department has secured several large dollar grants making it possible to add staffing, rejuvenate the apparatus fleet, and acquire specialized equipment and training, adding to the department’s scopes of service.  Chief Mullen graduated from New Jersey City University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science.
