NO Room for Change

from The Long Road · host Ron Jones

I was listening to yet the latest criticism of what someone did 30 years, and I realized that we are essentially giving people "NO room for change" or no benefit of the doubt that they can improve with this attitude. It's absurd to cancel someone, burn their business, or terrorize their family over some of these ridiculous mistakes they made as juveniles or younger adults. Consider the context of the infractions--did they murder someone? Did they rape someone? Did they burn a business down? Did they beat someone in a racial attack? Ok, fine, these things are going to stand the test of time for criticism, but a flippant comment or stupid photo that was taken in high school is just not the same. I propose a pause and some reflection on how people are attacking others because if this plays out like the Stalin era--the people doing the finger-pointing and condemnation will end up having the same done to them...or worse.
