Noam Chomsky is one of the frequently cited intellectuals in history. Considered the founder of modern linguistics, he has written numerous essays that made their way around the world. In the field of linguistics, he introduced the 'Chomsky hierarchy', generative grammar and the 'universal grammar' theory. Noam Chomsky began working as a linguistics professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) in 1952. He has been a member of the University of Arizona's Linguistics Department since 2017, where he is Emeritus Professor. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the National Academy of Sciences (U.S.). He is the author of more than 100 books and has received many awards. In 2019, he was recognized by the BBVA Foundation with the Frontiers of Knowledge Award for his incalculable contribution to the study of human language.
