For years, unpleasant symptoms such as abdominal pain, headache, joint pain, and skin rashes experienced with consumption of wheat and grains were dismissed as just being in our imagination, the product of a neurotic mind. If celiac disease was not diagnosed, then these sorts of abnormal symptoms were dismissed as inconsequential.
