The Faith and Teachings of Martin Luther King Jr.: Nonviolent Resistance MLK Jr. preached about nonviolent resistance in many of his messages – the idea to force an oppressor to see you and the injustice done upon you or others without striking back with violence. This was a method MLK Jr. took from Jesus and Gandhi. He focused on agape love – an unconditional love that saw everyone as brothers and sisters.
