Not by Your Righteousness: The Golden Calf & The Cure for Anxiety (Day 98)

Where do we place our confidence? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses delivers a "humility check" to Israel, reminding them that they are entering the Promised Land because of God's faithfulness, not their own goodness. He recounts the disaster of the Golden Calf as proof of their "stiff-necked" nature. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus addresses the root of our own pride and fear—warning against the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and the trap of greed, while pointing us toward a Kingdom that cannot be lost.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 9–10 – Moses recounts the rebellion at Horeb (Sinai) and his forty days of intercession for a people who deserved judgment. He then describes the second set of stone tablets and the core of what God requires: to fear Him, walk in His ways, and love Him with all our heart.📖 Luke 12:1–34 – Jesus speaks to a crowd of thousands, warning against the "leaven of the Pharisees." He tells the Parable of the Rich Fool and delivers one of the most comforting passages in Scripture, urging His followers to "consider the lilies" and seek the Kingdom rather than worrying about tomorrow.📖 Psalm 42:7–11 – The psalmist continues to wrestle with a downcast soul, yet chooses to hope in God: "Why are you cast down, O my soul? ...
