Notice your yes: how you’re built to decide, with Nicole Wallace

from Seen Differently · host The Podcast with Thomas Voigt

Myers-Briggs, Enneagram or StrengthsFinder. If you’ve had a corporate job, you’ve filled in the questionnaire and got the report back. They tell you who you are, which is useful. Human Design was the first one that told me how I’m built to operate, and that landed somewhere different. This episode is an invitation to try it. I sit down with Nicole Wallace, joining from Sydney, who spent 12 years in technology as an implementation consultant and then a solution architect before moving into coaching. She found Human Design after a 25-year relationship ended and she wanted to work out who she was again. What she found in her chart explained a working life she’d spent years apologising for.We get into what Human Design actually is, and what it isn’t. Not prediction, and not a box you’re stuck in. Nicole calls it something to play with, and the test is whether it holds up against your own experience. Then we put our two charts side by side, because they’re almost opposites. I’m an emotional manifesting generator, which means I’m meant to respond rather than initiate, and to sit with a decision through a full emotional wave before I answer. Nicole is a splenic projector, which means she gets a hit of intuition in a split second, and it’s either a yes or it’s nothing. Same table, same question, two completely different routes to clarity. We talk about what happens in a team when nobody knows this about anybody. There’s an honest bit in here about conditioning too. I spent most of my professional life being told I was the one who leads, decides fast, goes first. Looking back at the decisions that actually worked, every one of them was a hell yes I responded to, not a move I initiated. You’ll leave with one experiment for the holidays: notice your yes. Someone asks if you want to do something, and before you answer, you pause and feel what your body did first. That’s the whole thing. Don’t try to get it right, just get curious.Nicole Wallace is a human design practitioner and coach based in Sydney. She also named this podcast, which I’m putting on the record here. Seen Differently began this summer, in 2026, from a simple urge to take a breather and look at work differently. If you want to explore your own Human Design chart, visit Nicole’s website and get it for free.Takeaways1. A read on how you personally reach a decision, and why copying your manager’s way of deciding has probably cost you.2. A way to look at your team that explains why two capable people work at completely different speeds.3. A small experiment you can run this week, on holiday, with nothing to buy: notice your yes.Chapters00:00 Introduction to Human Design03:17 Nicole's Journey to Coaching08:03 Understanding Human Design13:05 The Five Types of Human Design17:54 Manifesting Generators and Their Unique Traits22:53 Decision-Making in Human Design28:01 The Power of Conditioning and Invitation33:22 Simplifying Complex Ideas39:44 Understanding Human Design Profiles40:10 Managing Teams with Human Design45:45 Applying Human Design in Daily Life51:43 Exploring Human Design ResourcesLinksNicole Website - www.nicolewallace.auNicole Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/nicolewallace.auNicole LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicole-wallace-a6460211/Thomas LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/thomas-voigtThomas Website - https://thecsconsulting.netThomas YouTube - See Differently - The Podcast with Thomas Voigt
