Friends of the Rosary,Today, November 27, is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. In 1621, colonists in New England gave thanks to God for his abundant mercies and blessings. This became a tradition, and in 1863, Thanksgiving Day was proclaimed a legal holiday.It's worth noting that some historians believe the first Thanksgiving in America was a Catholic Mass held 50 years before the Plymouth settlement. These pilgrims were preceded by Spanish settlers in what became Florida.
