Nutrition Principles

from The Health and Sport Show

So many of us read stories and hype around foods in the media; one day something is good for you, a week later we are being told it is now bad. Today Tom is going to guide you through some trustworthy nutrition principles so you don’t have to rely on the newspapers to work out what is the best fuel your body.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Avoid added sugar. Do not avoid natural sugars however as they come along with natural fibre.  Eat as few processed foods as possible, for instance, shop bought bread. Try to prepare your own food so you are aware of what you are eating. Eat vegetables at every meal. Different colours can be a good guide to variety.  Try to be aware where your food is supplied from. Organically grown vegetables and fruit. Grass fed meat. Wild caught fish.  Know the difference between good and bad fats. Fat is essential for good health.    BEST MOMENTS ‘If, however, you have an underlying health condition, such as type 2 diabetes, then you should be wary of eating too much fruit.’ ‘If you do eat a lot of bread, for example, especially this shop bought bread in a packet, try going 72 hours without it and see how your body reacts.’ ‘You could have the good lean bacon, eggs, avocados, tomato. Try and get some vegetables in there.’ ‘Fat has got a pretty bad rep ever since the dietary guidelines way back in the 1980’s stated that fat caused heart disease.’   VALUABLE RESOURCES https://youtube.com/channel/UCQXAka99a6MdZexeEJaMZbAhttps://m.facebook.com/elevatehealthuk/https://www.elevatehealthuk.com/https://instagram.com/elevate_healthuk?utm_medium=copy_link(Types of Fats video) https://youtu.be/kAfvrJdxJ84(Aliases of Sugar) https://youtu.be/AH7FFC5FWJ0   ABOUT THE HOST TOM BUTTERFIELD I have always been interested in sports, unfortunately injuries and poor training decisions curtailed my dream of becoming a professional football player.
