NYDL Episode 29: The Burden of Success

from Negroes You Don't Like · host Negroes You Don't Like

In this episode Sir & Modern Malcolm discuss the elephant in the room: SUCCESS and how those around you treat you as a result. You go to and graduate college (and or start a successful business or career), meet a woman who completes you, get married, buy a home and have kids within the marriage (keep in mind this is one popular version of success there are others). More than just success, we discuss how our community treats those who are successful particularly within their own family. Do the financially successful members of the family receive support from other family members? Is everyone truly happy for your success? Does success feel isolating, especially in the black community? Do successful people in the black community feel rewarded by people in their family and community for the hard work and sacrifice it takes to build and maintain success? What happens when you actually live out the blueprint to success that we often hear about? What happens when you are related to BLACK EXCELLENCE…are you inspired or  jealous? Yea its about that time for us to dig in, WE NEED TO HAVE THIS DIALOGUE and EVOLVE. You're NOT going to want to miss this episode. JOIN us on Patreon to hear the bonus content for our episodes.
