Obligation
from Christianity Now Narrations Hosted by Christianity Now
In Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, the journey of the three main characters—Rand al’Thor, Perrin Aybara, and Mat Cauthon—serves as a powerful narrative of growing into adulthood, not just through the trials they face but through how they live their lives in response to obligation. Each character is thrust into a destiny far greater than themselves, and their eventual success is rooted in how they live with that responsibility. This journey mirrors the biblical concept of living selflessly for a higher purpose, teaching timeless lessons that Christians today can draw from the scriptures.
