October 15 | Be Resilient

from The Bible in a Year: Daily Reading & Devotion Hosted by Kevin Harrison

Today's reading from Isaiah 45–46 and 1 Thessalonians 3 invites us to consider what it means to remain grounded in God when life becomes difficult. Both passages remind us that lasting faith isn't formed through the absence of hardship, but through learning to trust God's faithfulness over time. In Isaiah, God reminds His people that He alone is God and that His purposes will stand. While the nations place their confidence in idols they must carry and support, God declares that He carries His people. Their identity and obedience are to be shaped by remembering who God is and learning to trust His faithfulness through changing circumstances. In 1 Thessalonians, Paul expresses his concern for believers facing opposition because of their faith. When Timothy returns with news that they are standing firm in the Lord, Paul finds renewed encouragement amid his own suffering. Their resilience shows how perseverance grows through continued trust in Christ and how one believer's faithfulness can strengthen another. Together, these passages invite us to reflect on the pressures we face and how they shape our faith. They remind us that resilience isn't about denying hardship or relying on our own strength, but about staying anchored in the God who sustains His people through every season.
