On The Record with WNXP: Gustaf

Gustaf are a post-punk band from Brooklyn, a description that fits what seems like hundreds of bands during this current “post-punk revival.” But few stand out like Gustaf. Yes, their music embodies the familiar sounds of the genre — agitated guitars, dynamic bass lines and talk-singing preaching — but their latest record Package Pt. 2 is also experimental, unexpected and often uncomfortable. It’s obvious the five-piece is willing and able to push their sonic boundaries beyond the simplicity of punk.
