Hello and welcome today to One on One with Buddy in Veronica. We are so delighted that you have joined us for this 30 minutes of really delving into God's Word and encouragement and truth. And that's what we're going to talk about today is don't buy into the lies of the devil. And you know exactly where that comes from.
One of my best friends who I grew up with and dearly cherished went home to be with the Lord last year. And one of her sayings was don't you dare buy into the lies of the devil. And what she was talking about is keep your faith. God's promised you something regardless of what the circumstances may look like.
God has given you a promise and don't you listen to the lies of the devil. Can you remember her saying that? Oh, I can remember countless times she said that. And I mean she said it with a conviction that didn't come through your voice.
When Jackie said it, you knew that she was spanking you just a little bit for having to tell it, do you? And I can still hear that voice telling me that today. And that's where this message comes from because we see in our society the untruths and the lies that are swirling around us. And the enemy would want us to buy in to every one of those, Buddy.
But Jesus told us in John 832, he said, you will know the truth. You will know the truth. And the truth will set you free. Lies will bind.
They deceive. They blind. Lies blind to the truth. But Jesus said, I am the truth.
I am the way and I am the life. And if you believe in Jesus and you believe in the truth, you will never perish. And that is the truth. It's good to know the truth.
It's a simple message. That's what we've always tried to convey is, you know, we try not to convoluted. We need to learn. There's a whole history here that we need to learn.
The truth of how you serve God and what it means to serve God is a simple, simple message. We all have the theologies. You know, our daughter is currently doing her masters at ORU and she's all in the theology and all, I mean, it is, it's fascinating. And even the theology of Pentecostalism and, you know, our very roots.
But when you delve down into it, the simple message of Jesus Christ is very, very simple. And we love knowledge. We love to learn. I love to dig into things and I love to learn.
But when Jesus tells me that he is the truth, the way in the life, then I believe that. Because I know his voice and I know that he will never lead me wrong. And in John 845, Jesus tells us that Satan is the Father of lies. He initiated the lives.
He's the Father of lies. And if you follow those lives, it will lead you down a path of destruction and failure and pain and ultimately death. And the religious leaders of the time of Jesus, they were always trying to catch him up into something and they were, they were always trying to. Spend the scriptures to it.
They were spinning it, spinning it all around. And Jesus looked at them and he said, why don't you believe me? I'm telling you the truth. I'm telling you that if you will believe in me, that you will never die.
Why are you not believing me? And then Jesus basically told him, then in verse 47, he said, he who is of God hears God's word. Therefore, you do not hear because you are not of God. That's pretty simple.
It says, if you hear God's word and you believe him and you follow God's word, then you are God's. But if you are not God's, you're not going to believe his word. Many times we as believers become very frustrated because we say, people are blinded. It's like they can't even hear the truth.
They are hearing it, but they're not understanding it. And that's one of the things I was praying. I'm like, God, why are people not getting this? Why do they not understand?
This is all a big lie. And the Lord led me right to the scripture and he said, because they don't know my voice. When they hear my voice, they will know that I'm telling them the truth. They will know that I am the truth in the way.
And if they are not of me, then they're not going to hear the truth. They're not going to believe me. Jesus had the same issue, buddy, when he was walking here on the earth. He actually asked the question of the religious leaders.
He asked them, why don't you believe me? How many times have we said that in this past year or so? Why are they not believing? How can they believe this when we know it's not true?
Because God said they don't know the truth. Yes. And sometimes they want to take the truth, convoluted for their own selfish interests and desires. And that's what the world does around us.
They take the truth and some people will take some of the truth. They'll shade it. Other people will take the truth and twist it into a direction they want it to go, not the direction it was intended. Interpretation is the term we always hear people use.
Well, I interpret it this way. Well, that's fine. But the road gets you to heaven. That's what we're talking about here.
That Jesus came, gave his life. And we have to accept him as their Savior. And we have a ticket to heaven. That's the bottom line.
The religious leaders had decided that Jesus was not their ticket to heaven. And they chose not to hear the truth. And I chose not to hear the truth for many years. I chose.
I knew better. But I chose to put on the blinders and look down my pathway and not let these other pathways that could influence the truth, influence my life. So that's what these guys were doing. They had a plan.
They had a destination. They wanted to go. And Jesus questioned them. It wasn't getting them any closer.
No. Yeah. And it reminds me of when we go back to Numbers. And originally God told Abraham, he said, you're my friend and you trust me, you believe me.
And I'm going to make of you a great nation. And I'm going to give you a promise land. You know, the land wasn't very large. I think it's only like 160 miles long or 80 miles wide.
We were there and it was amazing on a bus how you could just go around. It's like, wow, we have just toured the entire promise land. But God said, this is your land. This is what I am giving you.
This is my promise to you, Abraham. And so we understand that that promise was maybe 400 years and coming. We know that the children of the Israel were held captive in Egypt. Then there was a time of deliverance that Moses brought them out of Egypt and they're going to the promise land.
You know, we're all very excited about that. This is the truth of God. But then when they get to the promise land on the edge of Kadesh and they're looking over, God says, I want you to take spies and I want you to go look at your land. Go take a look at this.
God is the one that ordained this. Moses didn't say, well, let's just take spies because we don't know what's over there. God says, you go see, I promised you this land. I've given you a land of milk and honey and plenty and abundance.
You go spy it out. So they took leaders. Now these are leaders from every tribe, 12 of these leaders. They didn't take the coward.
These are religious leaders. Okay. They were the leaders that are strong and they had been there and they had seen the parting of the Red Sea. They saw the promises that God had delivered them from Egypt.
I mean, they've seen God do them miraculous and they were hand chosen, these leaders, to go into this land and they were going to go throughout the land and it took them 40 days. They went on this journey and they were looking, they were seeing and they were saying, you know, this is just a marvelous place to be. So when they came back, this is actually what happened in numbers when the scouts came back or the 12 spies and this is what they told Moses in the Israelites. He said, then they told him and said, we went to the land that you sent us and it truly does flow with milk and honey and its fruit is like nothing you've ever seen.
You know, and so they're building up this expectation, expectation. What God told us was the truth. This is the truth that God said and it could, they could have just said yes and we are ready to go take the land, but there was a nevertheless, there's always a doubt when there's a nevertheless, you're thinking maybe this isn't the truth, maybe this isn't where God wants us, maybe, nevertheless, the people who dwell in the land, they're strong and their cities are fortified and very large, more ever, we saw the descendants of Anak there and the Amalekites dwell in the land of the south, the Hittites, the Jebusites, the Amorites, dwell in the mountains, the Canaanites dwell by the sea and all along the banks of the Jordan. You know, Anak, they were giants and so it says, not only are they in the mountains, they're along the rivers, they're along the seas, they're everywhere, these fortified cities and these people, they're armies there and these cities were walled, that means that they were fortified and he said that they were there and they dwell there and then Caleb, quieted the people because then the people started complaining and murmuring saying, well, why have you brought us here, then Caleb said, let us go up at once and take possession for we are well able to overcome it.
Yeah, we know what's over there, but we know the truth that God said that this is our promise land and even though they are there and I saw them with my own eyes, but you guys need to understand that this is our promise and we can take it. How many of us today are willing to have that same uncommon spirit as Caleb to rise up and say, yeah, we know what's going on in a land, we know that the cities are fortified, we know that there's chaos and turmoil, but God promised us this land, God promised us our families, God promised us, quiet down, let's go and buddy what I love, Caleb said, let's go up at once, let's not wait, let's not even wait one more night, this is our promise, the fire in his belly, the excitement, where has that gone in not only America, but we as Christians, where's the fire in our bellies to say let's rise up and let's take back a nation for God, not only the nation, but the nations, we know what's out there, we know that there's adversity, we know there's giants, we know there's spirits in the in and in the Father of lies and deception, but let's go because God has gone before us, there should be a fire stirring on the inside of us because this is the truth, this is what God promised. Well, and that's what he was saying, he said we are well able to overtake him, we are well but God's gone before us. That's right and God's already told them it's theirs and they have been able to achieve everything that God told them to do, everything challenged that came along, they saw like you said the miraculous and yet here they are, they're looking and they're making every excuse that where it's going to be hard, it's not going to be easy, we could get hurt, you know, we could get somebody to say something to us, you know, we hear all these same excuses today and it's not just about the promised land here, it's about our promise land here, it's about our nation that we dearly love, our families that we dearly love, our communities that we dearly love and we are well able to overcome these lies of the enemy that says it's always got to be this way, you know, these people are bigger than us, their voices are louder than us, they have more ways to project their thoughts and their desires and what is driving them to get these things completed, what is driving them, but we don't know the secrets behind what they're trying to do, what they want to achieve, what their true goals are, but we do know this, that God's given us that promise that we are well able, that we are equipped and He has told us to go over into that, that is our promise land, we can't give that up, that is ours to have and to hold and just because, you know, it hurts somebody's feelings a little bit, we got to have thicker skin than that, I mean, these guys have just fought their way out of a terrible existence all the way into this promise land and here it is at their doorstep and they turn away and we know the rest of the story, it doesn't boat well for about everyone there other than Caleb and a handful of others who get to see the promise land finally, I'm just telling you if we all listen to those voices, that the challenges are too great, people are not going to like it, you know, they're going to get upset with us, you know, we stand to lose some skin off of our nose, we stand to lose our statue a little bit, we stand to lose the stature that we've created for ourselves, they're going to look at us differently, I don't care who looks happy, it doesn't matter, as long as God approves of what we're doing, nothing else matters and that's what we really wish was said here, if God says it, we're going to do it, if God promised, we're going to receive that promise and we're going to do exactly what you said to do, but instead we see the challenges and we cowl down and we give in.
And that's exactly what happened, I can only imagine, and the Bible even goes on to say that Caleb and Joshua and Aaron and Moses, they're in their garments, you know, they're crying out to these people, they're like, why do you not believe us, just like Jesus was saying, why do you not believe us, because they were not God's, they did not understand the voice of the Lord, they didn't trust in the promise of God, but then it goes on to say in verse 31, that the men who had gone up with him said, now this is the lie, this is the lie that they are getting ready to buy into, we are not able to go up against the people because they are stronger than we, well of course they're stronger than they are, but they're not stronger than God, what happened to their minds, what happened to their promise, the father of lies came in, Satan came in, weaved himself in here and said no, you can't do it, buy into the lie, we are not able, and they gave the children of Israel a bad report in the land which for the land which they had spied out, the land which they had gone as a spies in the land, it says, it devours, it's inhabitants, it says, and all the people who we saw there are the men of great stature, and we saw the giants there, oh I can just tell them, it was, they were this big, like they'd bid on a fishing excursion, they were huge, they were 9 and 10 feet tall, which they were, they were giants there, and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so were we in their sight, that was their mentality, they brought into that grasshopper mentality, they bought into that, why, because they did not trust the promise of the Lord, they didn't believe God, when we do not believe and trust in God, it leads us down a path, but it leads us there that, you know, there's writing, they started writing here, and they started, there was an upheaval, and then it came up talking of stoning, Caleb and Joshua, because the crowd didn't like what they had to say, the crowd didn't like the truth, so when the truth came out, then they're like, well we're just going to get rid of you, does it sound familiar, well I don't like what you Christians are saying, so we're just going to get rid of you, or we're going to get rid of your platform, or we're going to erase you from social media, if they don't like what we're saying, but what we're saying is the truth, and even though they may pick up stones to try to stone us, we have to stand for the truth, because we are listening to the voice of our Lord, to tell the world that it is our land, it is our promise land, and we can have restoration, it amazes me buddy, after I read this story over and over again, after I see what they have come through, after they see this tremendous miracle of the Red Sea opening, and all million, three million people walk through this Red Sea, and now they're just saying, we can't take the land, because it's just too big, you know what is the enemy telling you today, what is he wanting you to buy into, is it a doctor's report, yes we believe in healing, we believe in supernatural healing, you're looking at two people who have been supernaturally healed, who were diagnosed with cancer, brain tumor, could go on and on, but we stood on God's word, we believe in healing, so what is the enemy trying to get you to buy into, that your marriage will not be restored, your finances will not be restored, that your community is going to have destruction or the nation will never be restored, no God promised us, so we are declaring the promises of God today, that it's our families, our communities, our nation, and God promised that if we trusted and believed in Him that we could take the land, it's time for us to rise up buddy. You know we know what happens next, is they don't go, and then where are they for the next 40 years? Do they think that they can just stand at the board, they can live on the border of the process, all these guys are going to be evicted for some reason, they walk in, no. No, but then they decide then after they decide, after God pronounces, God hears this, God is hearing, what we are saying, God is hearing our confession today, God is hearing our declaration, God heard the declaration of these 10 spies and then the children of Israel, he said, because of this, then you're not going to go in, he said there will be a generation to go in, but it won't be you, and then because of this you're going to go out and you're going to wander around in the wilderness for 40 years and you're going to die, your bones are going to drive in the wilderness, you're going to die, and then your children 20 years and younger, they'll be able to go in with Joshua and Caleb, but not you, and then they hear this proclamation, they're like, oh well God, we can't drive in the wilderness, we're going to go take the land, and they're like it's too late, it's too late, but they did it anyway, they went in themselves and they were slaughtered, and then they came back limping and wounding and then they went around the same wilderness for 40 years, when are we going to be murmuring and complaining if they would only believe the truth, if they would have only believed the promise that God had given Abraham, this was their land, they could take it, Joshua and Caleb, they did go into that promise land, and Caleb got the highest mountain there, and you know who was on that mountain, Hebron, one of the biggest giants that lived there, and Caleb said, let me at him, at 85 years old, Caleb marched up that mountain, and he defeated that giant, and that was his mountain, his territory, we're going to march up that mountain and say, this is where God promised me, and it's my land, he didn't do it in his strength, God went before him, it's time for us to believe in the promises of God, it's time for us not to buy in to the lives of the devil, if we can get enough of us together to say, we're not buying in to the big lie, we are buying in to the truth, and the truth is that God is going to restore and more.
And don't listen to the ones who are saying, hey, they've got a bigger platform than us, they have more ways to every time, God can step in and crush these giants of media overnight, I mean, it doesn't matter, the truth will be known, we can speak the truth above the clamor of the enemy, above the lies, because who is the father of lies, the enemy, Satan himself is the father of lies, we know where these falsehoods come from, we don't have to believe them, we don't have to agree with them, call them for what they are, they are strictly things straight from the pit of hell that are designed to keep God's children from entering into the promised land that God wants for us to have, for us to enjoy each and every day, and what they want to do is chisel away that hope and that promise, one little peace at a time, but they are consistent in their efforts, they're not going to stop, the enemy says he comes in like a flood, and he just pushes, and he pushes, and that's what we're getting right now, we're getting pushed and pushed and pushed, and they feel really good that they're pushing everyone around, well I'm telling you, we serve a God who in a moment, the twinkling of an eye can stamp out all of this deceit, he can open the curtain and reveal the wizard behind it and all of the lies that have come with it, we're going to believe that and preach that and push forward for that till the Lord calls us home or until we get a stand on that mountaintop and enjoy that giant being slayed, either way we win, either way we're not going to buy into the lies, and if Jackie were here right now, she would be standing on this table jumping up and down saying, don't buy into the lies of the devil, you know there is a prominent movement that is flooding this nation, and the leader of this movement, he is called the master of media, master of lies, so we, it's pushing in, pushing in, pushing in, so what do we do, we rise up and say this is our land, now we push back, and we believe the promises of God, we believe that this nation is one nation under God, and our voices joined together with your voices will rise up and we will be the master of truth, because Jesus Christ has gone before us, God had already gone before them in this battle, and if you read in the book of Joshua, you see when they did go into the promised land, same fortified cities, same giants were there, you will see victory after victory after victory, after victory, that's what happens when you believe and you trust and you take God at his word and you don't buy into the lies of the devil, don't be deceived, take the blinders off of your eyes, know who you are, know that you are a mighty voice and know that we are a force to be contented with, we are a mighty force that will flood over this nation with love, with truth, with justice, and let it be done as God has promised, and buddy, God has promised revival is coming, harvest is coming, and you know the good thing, there's nothing the devil can do about it, we may be a handful, we may be a remnant just like Joshua and Caleb, but we will rise up and we will let our voices be heard, one last thing, those ten other spies, they died of the plague immediately, God wiped them out because they bought into the lie of the devil, know that we love you and God loves you until we see you again this time next week, remember God is always faithful.
