Daarom kan ons ook ander bemoedig wat in allerlei moeilikhede verkeer. Ons kan hulle bemoedig met dieselfde bemoediging waarmee God ons bemoedig, Ons weet almal dat daar deesdae soveel nare dinge in die wêreld aan die gang is, nè? Ons hoor van oorloë en gerugte van oorloë; bitsige party politiek en diep verdeelde samelewings. En dan is daar al die dingetjies wat in elkeen van ons eie lewens aangaan. Moenie dit gering ag nie! Ons leef in onstuimige tye.Dis maklik om soos 'n kurkprop te voel wat op 'n woedende see rondgegooi word sonder om die storm te kan beheer. En so is baie mense se lewens gereduseer tot kommunikasie op sosiale media: hulle kla oor die lewe en bespot hulle nasionale leiers; hulle is dol oor die herplasing van opruiende en dikwels swak ingeligte boodskappe oor klimaatsverandering of identiteitspolitiek.Agge nee! Is dít waartoe ons lewens gereduseer is – ‘n boosaardige geklaery en skoorsoekerigheid? Maar sê my, hoekom laat God dit toe?Die geskiedenis het 'n vreemde manier om homself te herhaal. Ek wonder dus, hoe kan ek en jy die siklus breek - miskien nie op 'n makro-, of geopolitieke manier nie, maar dan op 'n mikro- plaaslike manier, deur hierdie eenvoudige vraag aan God te vra:Here, wat is my goddelike opdrag gedurende hierdie onstuimige tye?
