Orchidarium
from Audio guide de Santos-SP · host Seectur-Santos
Upon entering the Orchidarium, you leave the city behind for a few moments and find yourself in the midst of a green refuge that reproduces the atmosphere of the AtlanticForest. Opened in 1945 in the José Menino neighborhood, the zoobotanical park occupies more than twenty thousand square meters of urban forest, with tall trees, shaded trails, and a lake that attracts birds and invites contemplation. Orchids discreetly emerge, clinging high to the trunks, revealing delicate colors and shapes to those who observe attentively. Along the way, the presence of animals such asagoutis, tortoises, and birds reinforces the feeling of coexistence with nature, while the lake and dense vegetation create scenarios for pause and contemplation. Created with the purpose of conserving biodiversity and promoting environmental education, the Orchidarium invites tranquil observation: listening to the sounds of nature, smelling the aromas of the garden, and perceiving the life that manifests itself in every detail.
