OS 1310: Birding, Bowl-ing And Burning

from The Outdoors Show

‘Tis the season to let it burn!  To be more specific, it’s time for some controlled burning, which is exactly what Jeff was doing all week.  It’s really an artform (albeit a butt-puckering one), and it really takes some serious planning and consideration to do it right.  Get the lowdown on the burning process…and all the cool stuff that goes along with it. Tim called in and got the conversation shifting into scary situations on the water. Big waves, nasty wind, and gut-wrenching scenarios in which you think the worst is exactly what’s about to happen.  This part of the show was Halloween-worthy! This may come as a shock, but the conversation went all over the place during the episode, with bird talk, favorite Super Bowl commercials, Hee Haw songs, the El Cheapo (thanks to an appearance from Big Bill), the beauty of venison with Lester and Casey (Fishing Forecast producer), and, thanks to the GemLux Trivia Question, there was a serious discussion about the industry-wide conspiracy involving the true size of a 2×4! PROGRAM WARNING: Capt. Kirk was in rare form during this episode. He definitely dropped in a bunch of great lines including the “Chippewa War Cry”, but he also introduced the latest Outdoors Show-ism: “gobbled out”.  Find out what it means, how you can use it, and place your orders now for the t-shirt! LOL Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week from Captain Kevin: This is a great time of year to predator hunt! With all the new electronic calls out there it makes it easy and fun! Find a spot you’ve seen coyotes or bobcats during deer season, set up and literally push a button! Find it here on Amazon Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: Join us for some upcoming live remote events in March. On 3/2 The Outdoors Show will be at the Renaissance at World Golf Village for the Florida International Antique Tackle Show. Then on 3/9 we will be serving breakfast at The Bearded Pig in Jax Beach! Here’s your KirbyCo Builders, Inc cooking tip of the week: This marinade is the bomb!! Use it on meat, poultry, pork and seafood! Jeff used it on Mayport shrimp. You can find it at Publix and Fresh Market. Pro tip: The shrimp doesn’t need long to marinate (40 mins to an hour tops) Facebook
