Ovatiovermis es un pequeño animal alargado, de unos ocho centímetros de longitud, con aspecto de gusano y nueve pares de patas carnosas, gruesas y flexibles, de forma más o menos cónica, llamadas lobópodos. Los dos primeros pares de lobópodos son más largos, con unos veinte pares de espinas distribuidas a todo lo largo de cada uno, como en un peine, y una garra doble en el extremo. No tiene una cabeza diferenciada. En el extremo anterior del animal se encuentra la boca, con una trompa eversible, esto es, que se puede guardar en el interior de la boca volviéndose del revés. Tiene también dos pequeños ojos de una décima de milímetro de diámetro. Ovatiovermis es un animal filtrador. Con los tres pares traseros de patas se agarra a un punto elevado del sustrato, una roca, un coral o una esponja, yergue el cuerpo y estira y levanta el resto de los lobópodos para capturar con sus peines de espinas cualquier partícula de alimento que arrastre la corriente.
