Overcomers Episode 1 – Retired Firefighter Pat Hardison, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.
from Motivate with Coach Camp · host Coach Camp
My first guest, in my series about people that have overcome great adversity and incredible odds to make a difficult situation inspiring, is truly amazing. Mr. Hardison is a retired firefighter from Senatobia, MS and his difficult road began when he responded to a working house fire on September 5, 2001. As a firefighter/paramedic myself, I can tell you that his story definitely hit home. Firefighters understand and accept that there are certain dangers and uncertainties that go hand in hand with the job. This understanding doesn’t mean that they look for any special treatment or recognition. It simply means that, as a firefighter, you must find a way to acknowledge the potential consequences and still act without hesitation when a moment calls for it. Running into a burning structure is counterintuitive for most people, but as a firefighter you must be willing to go against those natural urges to go in the opposite direction when things get difficult. Tune in to hear how Pat Hardison answered that call and paid a difficult price when the roof caved in and forced Pat to find an inner strength that most people could not imagine, as he became the first person on earth to receive a full face transplant. One of Pat’s mantra’s is, “You must keep hope alive!”. If you or someone you know would like to help firefighters and their families, you may want to check out, The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, First Responders Children’s Foundation, National Volunteer Fire Council or the Tunnels to Towers foundation to name a few.
