This word panic seems to dominate our culture right now. Panic is defined as “sudden uncontrollable fear or anxiety, often causing wildly unthink- ing behavior.” There are two key parts to this word that make it so dangerous:First is the nature of the word—it is sudden and uncontrolla- ble. No matter what is happening, this event happens quickly and without the ability of anyone to do anything about it. There is a complete and total loss of any type of control, and thus an overwhelming sense of helplessness.Second is the impact of the word—it always causes behav- ior that does not reflect any sense of understanding or calm. Behaviors don’t make sense, conversations are irrational, and actions are beyond comprehension.So, let's allow the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through us to help us overcome Panic!
