Overthinking 2 Sniffs And A Ha-Ha!

from Voices of Victory Podcast Show · host Mario D. Leone

When you do “two sniffs and a ha ha breath,” you’re doing something that interrupts the body pattern that usually feeds overthinking.  The double sniff changes your chemistry and your rhythm of the breath fast. The first sniff fills your lungs. The second small sniff helps you reopen tiny air sacs in the lungs called alveoli that may have partially closed during stress breathing. That improves oxygen exchange and helps regulate carbon dioxide levels more efficiently. Then the long “ha ha” exhale matters because slow exhaling activates the parasympathetic nervous system and the system connected to calming, recovery, digestion, and lowering arousal. The vocalized “ha ha” also relaxes you.
