P6Ch38b Characteristics of the Natural Law
from Foundations of Christian Thought · host Christian Thought
Part 6 Ethics Chapter 38 Moral Law and Conscience Section b. Characteristics of the Natural Law This section begins with a discussion of the laws both natural and divine and how beings of different natures relate to them. Man, being a spiritual creature participates in Gods providence through knowledge, and direct themselves freely towards it, which therefore inclines man towards good, and therefore towards greater freedom. Thus the root of the natural law is being ordered towards God and no quantity of social or personal analysis will provide one a greater knowledge of the natural law, because there is very little direction of order within these facts.
