Hace casi medio siglo, en 1976, el oceanógrafo estadounidense Peter Rona hizo un descubrimiento que le cambió la vida. Se encontraba en su oficina de Florida, estudiando las fotografías que unas semanas antes había tomado una cámara montada sobre un trineo que recorría el fondo del Atlántico, a más de tres kilómetros de profundidad, remolcada por un barco de la Administración Nacional Oceánica y Atmosférica estadounidense. En algunas de esas fotos, hasta un centenar de ellas, aparecían unos extraños alineamientos de agujeros que a primera vista le hicieron pensar que le estaban gastando una broma. Aquello parecía un panal de abejas hexagonal, ¡en el fondo del océano! Pero no, la imagen era real. Aunque se han identificado como rastros fosilizados de Paleodictyon nodosum, la realidad es que la criatura que los creó sigue siendo un enigma. Más información en https://cienciaes.com
