Nos últimos anos muitas empresas se empenharam em ampliar o número de negros no seu quadro de funcionários. A verdade é que não só as empresas, mas toda a sociedade ainda engatinha quando o assunto é equidade racial. O mercado de trabalho dominado por brancos é uma amostra disso. Para confirmar esta situação de desigualdade, muitas corporações usam a narrativa da meritocracia: que posições de privilégio são resultado apenas do esforço individual. Mas numa sociedade pautada pelo racismo, não dá para justificar que um grupo tenha acesso a oportunidades por mérito, sendo que outro sequer teve acesso a essas oportunidades. Uma das razões é que parte da população branca não entende seus privilégios. É a Síndrome do Eterno Aprendiz. A pessoa sabe que existe racismo, é interessada no tema e tem atitudes bem-intencionadas. Mas ainda se acomoda na frase, "estou aprendendo" e não age de forma ativa para mudar esse cenário. O fato é que a transformação tem mais chance de acontecer com lideranças mais diversas. E para isso, é necessário que pessoas negras cheguem mais rapidamente nos altos cargos. Precisamos transformar os gestores eternos aprendizes em transformadores.
