Which facilitates her approach to wellness as holistic and integrative. In this conversation we discuss the transformational power of taking care of ourselves. Which requires being self aware, and having an  understanding of the "domains" which encompass who we are and how we function. The seven (7) domains in our life are; the Mental, Physical, Emotions, Spiritual, Social, Occupational and Financial aspects. We must be conscious of how they function, influence and impact how we live. We discuss her Somatic practise, this type of mind and body based intervention, which facilitates healing and helps to keep the mind and body connected.  It can help us find areas in the body where tension is trapped, pain, discomfort and imbalances. As a Practitioner, she would often ask clients "Where do you feel it in your body" This is so that she can track sensations. Laura then gives examples of what this will look like, the cultural connections and healing process, plus much more. Additionally, we talk about the effects of Stress and Trauma in the body and what are some of the symptoms.  Laura believes that we can achieve our wellness goals and shift from stress, anxiety and overwhelm to feeling calm, focused and resilient. If we do the work to be on the path to wellness throughout our lives. Our wellness and healing journey will require work. Laura advocates for us to self regulate, be mindful and to know ourself. We must understand our  "window of tolerance" that is, to know what are our triggers and how it shows up. With this understanding we must have self-compassion and learn to manage and protect ourselves, by being intentional and aware, so that we can protect our peace. We must Give ourself Grace. What is Mindfulness? Laura says it is "Paying attention on purpose". It sets the stage for wellbeing, health and recovery. Therefore we must be in the habit of crafting mindful living. Laura then talks about Finding our Joy. Joy is a fruit of the spirit, it requires surrender and can bring hope. It comes from within, based on a sense of purpose, core values and can come from within pain as well. Joy is also the Power to inspire. It is a choice and it takes time. Therefore we must create and cultivate this way of thinking. We discuss Paradigm Joy, Laura's company and how in her practise she is able to help her clients and all the services she offers. This is a intriguing discussion about the mind and body connection and the effects that imbalances, stress, triggers, trauma and other forms of abuse have on how we function and live. Have a listen to this deep conversation it can change your life.
