VAYEJI Jacob lied the last 17 years of his life in Egypt. Before he dies, he asks Joseph to swear that he will bury him in the Holy Land. He then blesses Joseph's two sons, Menashe and Ephraim, raising them to the level of his sons as progenitors of tribes in the nation of Israel. Reuben warned for "confusing his father's marriage"; Shimon and Levi for the Shchem massacre and the plan against Joseph.
