In the wilderness, people suffer from thirst and hunger and repeatedly complain to Moshe and Aaron. Elohim miraculously sweetens the bitter waters of Mara and then has Moshe draw water from a rock by striking it with his staff; He brings down manna from heaven before the dew every morning to disappear from the Israelite camp at night. The people of Israel are informed to gather a double portion of manna on Fridays because manna will not descend on Saturdays, the day of rest decreed by Elohim. Some disobey and go out to gather manna on the seventh day but find nothing. Aaron preserves a small amount of manna in a jar as a testimony for future generations. In Rephidim, the town was under attack by the Amalekim, defeated by the prayers of Moshe and an army gathered by Yoshua.
