from Efrayimbenshalom

It's all down to what we say. The word in Hebrew is "Davar," with the plural being "Devarim" (words). The word Devarim comes from Leavir, which means "to transfer". The words transfer the infinite Light of Boré Olam to this physical reality. That's why the prophet says, "Take words for yourselves and return to HaShem."
