Moshe gathers the people of Israel and reminds them of the commandment to observe Shabbat. He then instructs them to build the Mishkan. The people generously donate the required materials for the construction of the Mishkan, including gold, silver, copper, various types of fabrics, wood, olive oil, herbs, and precious stones. Moshe eventually has to tell them to stop bringing donations because they have given so much. A group of skilled craftsmen, known as the "wise-hearted," built the Mishkan and its utensils according to detailed instructions given in previous Torah sections. The Mishkan is comprised of various elements, such as layers of roof-like covering, gold-covered wall panels, a curtain and screen to separate different rooms, the Ark with its covering and Cherubim, the Table, the Menorah, the Golden Altar, and the Outer Altar, among others. Moshe takes a count of the donated materials. And Betzalel, Ahaliav, and their assistants create the Eight Ministerial Garments: the long linen tunic, linen pants, linen turban, belt, woolen apron, breastplate, woolen tunic, and gold forehead plate, when the Mishkan is completed, Moshe erects it, anoints it with oil, and initiates Aaron and his sons into the priesthood. Finally, a cloud appears above the Mishkan, symbolizing the presence of Hashem within it.
