from Efrayimbenshalom

Hiletra: VAYAKHEL PEKUDEY “The Three Crowns of the Torah”… With this week’s reading of two Parashiot (called mejubarot, meaning “joined”), the book of Shemot is concluded. Both refer to the transmission of the command for the construction of the Sanctuary that Moshé gives to the people. Previously, in Terumá and Tetzavé, reference was made to the command of Elohim given to Moshé regarding the Sanctuary and its components, as well as the garments of the Cohanim. Even though the events related to the golden calf, narrated in Ki Tisá (Census), intervene between both Parashiot, the command to carry out the construction of the Sanctuary is still fulfilled, and the Providence of Hakadosh BarujHu rests upon it. When the people of Israel accept the Torah by saying, “Naase ve nshma” (we will do and then we will understand), at the level of Adam, true love is demonstrated, and this is the secret of the cup of immortality. After the sin of the golden calf, the presence of HaShem withdraws, and they once again become mortal. This sin shows that even from the earliest stages of our history as a people, there existed groups that distorted the true meaning of the Torah without denying or rejecting their Judaism, just as has occurred throughout history up to the present day.
