Parental Liability for Children's Acts

from Just Lawing Around Hosted by JimmyJames and Carl M. Knapp, Esquire

In this episode we are discussing two cases regarding whether parents should be charged with crimes because of their child’s actions. The first involves a high-speed car crash in Michigan where a 16-year-old was driving over 100 mph in a residential zone. The driver lost control and crashed into a tree, killing the 18-year-old passenger. The passenger’s parents are pushing for authorities to charge the mother of the driver. In the second case the father of a 14-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting four people at a Georgia high school was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for letting his son possess a weapon. When should parents be held responsible for the actions of their children? Listen and find out our views. For more information about attorney Carl M.
