Joseph's imprisonment ceases when Pharaoh has two dreams that Joseph interprets. The dreams indicate that there will be seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Joseph advises Pharaoh to store grain during the seven good years. Impressed by his wisdom, Pharaoh appointed Joseph as ruler over Egypt. Joseph married Asnath and had two sons. Later, Joseph's brothers come to Egypt to buy grain during the famine. Jacob agrees to send Benjamin only if Judah takes responsibility for him. Joseph welcomes the brothers, releases Shimon, and invites them to a meal. However, he frames Benjamin by placing his golden cup in Benjamin's bag. The brothers are accused of theft, and Joseph offers to release them if he can keep only Benjamin as his slave.
