https://3speak.tv/watch?v=steemseph/82bbedb0 ## LIVE BIG BAND MUSIC This song comes to you as a service of Josephs BassCam. Footage is from May 15, 2026. This is the last performance on our semester. Today’s video features our second song. It our new regular opening tune called, “Pennsylvania 6-5000.” This song has an older style of “walking bass.” The parts are more basic and complimentary to the melody. Less try-tone substitution, less chromaticism, more scalar and pedal, similar patterns instead of different every time around the changes and sneaky solo bassist… I’m not complaining. “Pennsylvania 6-5000” is the name of a hotel and that's what they woud say when asnwering the phone. Classic big band tune. I am sure you have heard this song before. The GoPro Session mounted with a suction cup for the 5-string ultra bass. No permanent GoPro mount for this white bass. The suction cup device is ver versatile. I also use it on the boats. Attaches to windows nicely. I have the GoPro Session on minimal setting… 1080, 30fps, and wide angle. Battery power usually runs out before the last part of our performance. I recently discovered that I save myself a lot of battery life and a lot of editing work if I just start and stop recording between songs. I have also discovered that I can capture the entire performance if I use my phone/mount after the GoPro runs out. I should just get another GoPro Session off eBay. Bass: Fender Jazz Bass Ultra 5 String… formerly known for being difficult to play. It wasn’t the “Bread and Butter.” It’s new instrument and the factory set-up was high and difficult to play. I tolerated it for a long time because it helped me build strength. I’m not doing that anymore. I adjusted the action of the stings, did the intonation, and adjusted the neck. Small changes make a big difference. I like the bass lots lots lots more now. I know this because I find myself wanted to play it at inappropriate time of the day. Thank you for reading and watching.
