The Coat That Doesn't Fit Anymore.

from Heart Notes with Piper Cabebe · host Piper Cabebe

Have you ever wanted to change something, or felt called toward something new, even though nothing was broken? Even though life was actually good?Maybe it felt like a coat that used to fit you perfectly, and now it just doesn't sit right anymore. Still a good coat. Still yours. It just isn't you in the same way it used to be.This episode is about that feeling, and the dance that comes with it. That back and forth between the new that doesn't quite fit yet and the old that doesn't quite fit anymore either. The messy middle where your mind starts spinning stories about what the discomfort means and whether you're making a mistake.I share something personal in this episode about stepping away from the massage therapy practice I built and loved for over twenty years, and letting it evolve into something new. And the words a nurse named Rachel said to me at my mother's passing that I have carried with me ever since.Because here's what I want you to know: the grief is not a stop sign. You can feel excitement and grief at the same time. And the dance between the old and the new is not evidence that you haven't healed enough or grown enough or done enough work. It's evidence that you're human. And that something real is happening. Before you step back into your day, I'll leave you with three questions to carry with you the next time you find yourself in the dance.
