Pet owners in New Jersey could get nearly $1,000 a year in tax credits under a bill being considered in the state Legislature. Cat litter and dog toys are among the "everyday" expenses for which you could claim up to $300. And, dog and cat owners could get a tax credit of up to $600 for veterinary care. Other animals are not included in the plan. Republican Assemblyman Alex Sauickie of Ocean County told NJ.com it would cut across demographics and age groups in one of the most expensive states to own a pet.
