This is a slick cinematic experience that touches a trio of genres: noir, mystery, and drama. It transitions so seamlessly between genres and oft simultaneously, in such a way, that you process it as a simple study in filmmaking sleekness. I have adored this film since the unique treat of my first viewing. Imagine, if you can, that bliss multiplied by a factor of two the moment I realized that Red Devil expressed a reverence for this film, meeting, if not exceeding, even my own.
