On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman is joined by Apocalyptica, live from Blue Ridge Festival, live from Virginia International Raceway, Virginia. The guys talk about how awesome it was to be playing music it is again after the awful couple of years we have just been through. The speak about how great the crowd was and how much energy they gave. Pipeman loved the set after seeing them for the first time, despite having listened to their music since the 90’s. Pipeman particularly like their rendition of Seek and Destroy by Metallica, who they say they supported in 1996 on their fourth or fifth show, and since then they have been in touch, and were even asked to play at their birthday parties. When Pipeman asks them to describe their music, they say you’re better off coming to the shows because you wouldn’t believe them if they told you. They say it’s heavy metal played with cellos, but even then you have to see it to really experience it. The came up with the idea for the band in music university in Helsinki as classical music majors who liked heavy metal, and after a few beers they came up with their sound. Pipeman asks what their parents thought of their music. One of the members spoke about his father being a professional classical musician, but he was taught to listen to music with a really wide scale and an open mind, so this really helped when creating the band.
