Michael mentions how Sunflower Dead are a heavy rock band and describes their music as very epic, beautiful and lyrically heavy. Michael mentions how their on a path to try and find honesty of who they are as artists and people and that their new album really represents this journey. Michael speaks to us about their new album, March Of The Leper, and explains how the nine songs are pillars that hold up what the album really is. Michael states that this is some of the heaviest music they’ve ever created and that they’re so proud of it. Michael talks about how the album is about accepting and being positive about the fact that they’re outcasts and they’re different and they’re not trying to fit in. Michael states that they’re getting better at what they do and that they love what they do and everyone is welcome along for the ride. Pipeman and Michael discuss how music is for everyone - it’s what pulls us together and how live music and connection is the best therapy for everyone. Michael states that human connection is the reason we all make art and it’s what everyone needs. Pipeman mentions how he has felt the most alive he has felt in so long due to being back and festivals and concerts. Michael agrees with this and speaks about how present in the moment they were when they finally got to perform again. Michael also talks about how thankful they felt when performing and how that was a new feeling for them but that they don’t care how many people are watching they’re just so excited and grateful to be back playing live music again. Pipeman jokes that even if someone got on stage and played the recorder he would still be happy to be just experiencing live music again! Michael tells us about their new single, Falling Down and expresses how his one goal for this song was to really perfect the line between heavy music and commercial music.
