Plato split men into three classes. Bronze, silver, and gold. Most men are chasing silver. Strength, success, status. And there's nothing wrong with any of that. But if that's where it ends, you get tyrants, not kings.The philosopher king is the integration of all three. A man who has mastered the exterior but understands that mastery flows from the interior. A man who has seen the good and is fixed on it, which means the world stops having the kind of grip on him it has over everyone else. You can't bribe a man who doesn't want what you're offering.This video gets into why kingship alone produces disorder, why philosophy without strength produces basement dwellers, and why only the man who holds both has the capacity to actually lead. Plato gives us the framework. Aquinas develops it. And Christianity completes it through the baptismal commissioning of priest, prophet, and king. That's what every Christian man is called to.
