Poetic Interlude: "I Was Always Meant to Bloom" (with Deborah Rutherford)

from Behold-Her Beauty with Deborah Rutherford · host Deborah Rutherford

Giving a voice to the journey from broken to beloved. 🕊️ In this special bonus episode, I step away from our usual interview format to share a deeply personal piece of my heart with you. I’m reading my poem, “I Was Always Meant to Bloom,” paired with the beautiful promise found in Isaiah 58:11. If this message touches you today, please place a heart in the comments. It’s a small gesture that helps my writing reach more weary hearts with the hope of Jesus. In the midst of the wilderness, there is still an oasis. 🌿I have been receiving so many beautiful emails, texts, and reviews about how my book is making you feel less alone and filling you with encouragement and hope. So, I wanted to read to you my poem, “I Was Always Meant to Bloom,” because if I’m honest, there were days when I didn’t think I would. But God is so kind and loving, and just as He promises in Isaiah 58:11:The Lord will guide you continually,And satisfy your soul in drought,And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden,And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. This poem is incredibly close to my heart. I wrote it on a day when I deeply needed to remember that we are never too far gone, never forgotten, and never too undone for the love of the Father. If you’ve been wondering lately if you will ever bloom again, I pray these words find you today and remind you of that promise. Because, sweet friend, you were always meant to bloom.I’d love to know—which line from this poem or the Scripture speaks to your heart the most today? Let me know in the comments. 👇🏼📖 The journey home continues in my new memoir in verse, Prodigal Daughter: Poems of Light for the Lost Ones, which recently hit #1 in Christian Poetry! This book is my heart on paper, written for every soul who has ever felt ‘too far gone’ to sit at the Father’s table.
